The final figure is in: our 11th Annual Golf For Dreams Lori Fergusson Memorial Tournament fundraiser raised $25,000!
We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day on July 9th when scores of eager golfers hit the Richmond Country Club’s golf course to raise money for Dreams Take Flight Vancouver. Some were serious players, others were just there for some fun on the beautiful green, but the main reason for coming out was to benefit our 22nd flight to Disneyland later this year.
Representatives from our loyal supporters like JRfm were there to greet players throughout the day, along with staff from Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel’s Pier 73 Restaurant, who whipped up tasty tacos at the tailgate lunch party. Some of our sponsors even formed teams of their own, with the guys from Inspired Home Design Solutions holding their own against the teams from event sponsors Chevron and Catalys.
Events like “Closest To The Pin” made for an entertaining day in between rounds of golf, with the winner driving away with a BMW3 to cruise around in for a weekend. There were more games held throughout the day, rewarding those who got the “Longest Drive” and “Hole-in-One”. After a sumptuous buffet dinner, attendees had more to look forward to in the form of the silent and live auctions. This year one lucky person will be spending a week in Mexico after bidding on the 7-night all inclusive stay at El Cid Marinas, with 3 rounds of golf, cart, caddie transfers, etc. (value: approx $1800).
Thank you to everyone who took part, from the sponsors to the volunteers. We could not have had such a huge success without you all.
